Ocean tours and excursions in Zanzibar

Everything on this page happens on or in the water. Snorkelling at the Mnemba atoll reef, dolphins off Kizimkazi, the sandbanks at Nakupenda and Pungume that disappear entirely at high tide, and sunset dhow cruises out of Nungwi.
Ocean trips are the ones the tide controls. Nakupenda is underwater at high water and the Mnemba reef is only worth snorkelling at certain states of the tide, so departure times move day by day rather than sitting at a fixed hour. We confirm the time the evening before.
Marine park fees apply at Mnemba and are stated on each tour rather than collected as a surprise on the beach. A boat costs the same whether two people or six are on it, so the per-person rate drops sharply with a fuller boat.
