The jet car is the strangest thing on the water in Zanzibar and the most photographed. It looks like a sports car and behaves like a jetski, sitting low with spray coming over the bonnet.
You drive it yourself after a short briefing, with a guide on the water throughout. No licence is needed. It seats two, so one person drives and the other holds on.
It is genuinely a photo activity as much as a ride, and the operator will take pictures from the boat. Wear something you are happy to get soaked in, because you will be. Mornings are calmer and better for photographs.
